Intro to Pottery: Centering and Throwing

Thursdays, 6-8pm

Instructor:  Kyle Brumsted

Learning to throw on the potter’s wheel is one thing on everyone’s “bucket list.”  This is your chance.  This fun class guides the beginner through basic ceramics: working with clay, the centering process, pulling cylinders, and creating functional ware on the wheel.  We will be learning basic glazing techniques, as well as the bisque and glaze firing processes.  Each participant will take home finished functional wares, glazed and fired in the electric kiln.

$185 including materials and firings | 6 sessions + Saturday open studio

Min. 2, max 6

**CLASS IS FULL

Kyle Brumsted is a functional potter, originally from Ithaca, NY. His work utilizes clean forms with slight alterations and simple geometric elements to highlight the effects of atmospheric firing with salt and soda. Before coming to Craigardan, Kyle gained experience working as a studio intern at Baltimore Clayworks and as an apprentice for Montreal artist Mahmoud Baghaeian.
