Clay Camp!

Kids Clay Camp!

Monday through Friday, July 9-13  |  9am - 3pm daily

Instructors:  Julia Gronski and Barbara Tam

Join the fun in a fabulous week of clay.  Each day, new projects will be introduced with plenty of personal instruction and with inspiration from the farmyard, the woods, and from one another.  Throughout the week, we will explore the pottery techniques of pinching, coiling, and rolling slabs.  And some days we will try our chances at the wheel!  Campers can make a variety of functional projects including piggy banks, trinket boxes, slab plates, alphabet cups, and story tiles.  And we will sculpt clay critters, farm animals, and imaginary creatures, too.  No clay experience is required, just your enthusiasm and imagination.

Our day will begin with a clay session in the Studio, followed by organized outside activities and games or farm and field explorations.  We might harvest our morning snack from the garden.  After lunch together in the Applebarn, a camper may choose to return to the clay studio or to engage in an art project using other techniques and materials.  These projects could include crafting a kite, making a rainstick, weaving  with wool rovings, building a gnome house in the woods, or painting magic wands.  We might even sing to the pigs.

All work will be glazed with food-grade safe glazes and fired in our electric kilns and will be available for parent pick-up about 2 weeks after camp.
